What is a Photorhizotron and Why is it Key to Wipi?
The photorhizotron, developed by Wipi, is a technology that allows full observation of root structure and development without altering the plant’s natural environment.
This device is fully buried and, via wireless connection, captures real-time images of various components of the rhizosphere (roots, white tips, root hairs). It monitors not only root growth but also the plant’s water availability. This results in optimized irrigation frequency, assessment of the plant’s phytohormonal state, and evidence-based decision-making — all without destructive root practices or interventions.
